SUNDAY SAMPLE SKINCARE -- Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Calming Facial Lotion

I received a sample of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Calming Facial Lotion a little while ago and it's one of several moisturisers that I leave at my boyfriend's house. I have two sets of make up; my everyday make up at home and make up that I don't really like or use often but am reluctant to throw away. The Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Calming Facial Lotion is in the latter category unfortunately.

I was excited to try this product when it came out some time ago as it promises to 'reduce redness and calm stressed skin.' To put this product to the test I caused stress to my skin by picking my spots (a bad habit I know). When you apply pressure to the skin to rid blemishes you're causing extra stress to the skin and it damages the skin. Often when this happens you're left with red marks and swelling in some instances. The Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Calming Facial Lotion gets to work straight away with its lightweight moisturiser. Palmer's are famous for their Cocoa Butter formula moisturisers which promise to maintain the skins' elasticity which is lost over time. The moisturiser does help to restore the skin and rehydrate it whilst dulling down any redness. It doesn't completely rid the skin of red patches though and merely dulls it down which is disappointing.

Palmer's specify that it can be used morning or night, alone or under make up. I use it as a moisturising primer but it doesn't secure your make up unlike other moisturisers or primers (which this is not). The moisturiser includes; vitamin E, chamomile, aloe vera and milk proteins and, is designed with sensitive skin in mind. I really like how lightweight this moisturiser is but it doesn't work to soothe dry patches or double up as a primer. Nor does it have any SPF which isn't imperative that it includes this as my foundation has SPF15 protection.

The lotion costs around £6 for 100ml online and in store and after reading other reviews it seems like it's better suited for people with skin allergies or irritations. It might even be suitable for acne sufferers to reduce redness and swelling. I've almost finished the sample sized 15g but personally I wouldn't re-purchase this product.
