It's getting to that time of year when everyone starts jetting off on holiday. Unfortunately this year I won't be one of them but I thought I'd share with you some helpful little tricks and reveal what's in my flight bag. Obviously you have the essentials like passport and travel documents but what beauty items should you take? I have a few small staple items that travel everywhere with me just in case I do ever lose my suitcase. All of my make up is small enough and under the recommended liquid allowance that it can travel in my cabin luggage with me. If I'm going somewhere hot I don't really bother with make up during the day as the constant reapplication of sun cream would sit on top of my make up and not sink in properly.
If I'm going out somewhere on the evening or if I've travelled to somewhere cold and there's no chance of getting a sun tan, I pack the Bourjois Paris Brush Foundation in 32 Rosé clair. Unlike my other beauty products it doesn't contain SPF so a moisturiser with SPF or applying sun cream first acts as a base to the make up and protects your face. I love this foundation for several reasons. It provides even coverage and is the perfect shade for my pale skin. It doesn't clog your pores and wipes off easily with a make up wipe. I bought several of these from the Cosmetics Fairy website when they were on offer and I think I paid £3 for three, they were sold at 99p each originally. Sadly it doesn't seem to be available anymore which is slightly ironic as they're sample sizes that specify on the bottle 'Not for Resale.' The Bourjois Paris Brush Foundation is the perfect size for your cabin luggage at 12ml. The only downside about this product is that it comes with a small plastic applicator that you use to dot the foundation onto the face. I like to apply my foundation straight to the brush to apply even coverage so the applicator is a little tricky to use.
I recently reviewed my top hand creams and lip balms but missed off two (deliberately to write this review). I love the fresh citrus scent of Superdrug's Hand Therapy 2 in 1 Hand and Nail Cream which has permanent residence in my daily handbag. Slightly larger at 30ml it's still under the permitted 100ml liquid allowance. It leaves your hands feeling really smooth and soft and works to soften your cuticles. It's perfect for travelling on planes as it works to re-hydrate your skin from the air conditioning. At 99p I can't fault this product at all. Sadly, I can't find my next product to show you all as it's probably in my last flight bag but I love the Rituals lip balm. [See here for a link to my lip balm review which has an image of the Rituals balm]. It's a firm staple for travelling as it really soothes and conditions dry chapped lips. This was another free sample from a commercial flight where I received a small sample of their moisturiser as well (which I use as hand cream).
Even if I'm not travelling abroad I like to keep perfume samples in my handbags. Often you get free tester samples when you buy perfume and what better way to use them up then having them in your handbag. At the minute I really like Cherish by AVON. It's quite a strong floral smell but it's not overpowering which is nice. It smells a little bit like Givenchy which is even better as it's much cheaper than the designer perfumes.
Lastly I like to keep a pot of Boots Moisturising Nail Polish Remover Pads in my bag. I bought this in departures so it's completely safe to take on the plane which I was surprised at (just don't open it on the flight). Unlike other nail varnish removers it doesn't have a strong smell of acetone which is great. I'm down to my last pad but you get 15 in a pot and it takes off the most stubborn of nail varnish. It's quite greasy and there's a lot of excess liquid that comes out but it does the job well. Unsurprisingly it has only one star review on the Boots website but for £1.50 it does the job. As it's 12ml it's allowed in your flight bag which means you don't have to worry about packing nail varnish remover and have it leaking all over your clothes.
I can only apologise for how appalling my photographs are. At some point I will buy a better camera. The camera on my phone is just not ideal. Sorry guys.
